How To Make Yak Chew Nuggets

How to Make Yak Chew Nuggets!
Yak chews are popular dog treats that originate from the Himalayas. Crafted by local herd communities, these treats are based on a simple recipe of yak (or cow) milk, lime juice and salt. A major benefit of yak chews is that they are protein and calcium rich whilst being low in fat, and free from chemicals or preservatives. Dogs love them for their long-lasting tastiness, and dog owners can rest assured that their furry friends are munching down on a healthy treat.
A great choice for dogs of any breed, K2 Yak Chews come in a range of flavours and sizes to best suit your dog. From size small to XX-Large, and flavours such as turmeric, strawberry, blueberry and mango, yak chews make an ideal treat to entertain your dog for hours.
Plus, yak chews are regarded as safe for dogs, especially in comparison to other treats such as rawhide that contain chemicals and pose choking hazards. Yak chews, on the other hand, are tough but soften gradually from the impact of your dog's saliva as they repeatedly chew and nibble. This means that yak chews don't splinter off in big chunks and are easily digestible. Yak chews are eaten in a similar way to lollypops - eventually there'll only be a small part left that is too small for your dog to hold between their paws. But - there's a great way to keep your dog safe from chewing on leftovers that are too small, whilst also getting your money's worth and avoiding waste: yak chew nuggets!

What are yak chew nuggets?
Yak chew nuggets are new, smaller treats made out of left over yak chews. Crumbly, puffy, but just as tasty. You can get them pre-made if you prefer to give your dog yak chews in snack sized portions, or you can make them yourself, from yak chew leftovers. Here's how:
[Watch our instructional video here]
- Soak the small yak chew pieces in water for at least 5 minutes, then drain
- Put the pieces on a microwaveable plate and heat up in your microwave for 1 minute. (If this is your first time making the treats, it’s best to do this in 30 second intervals to ensure your microwave’s power does not overcook them!)
- Leave the treats to cool down to a suitable temperature for your dog. The yak chew nuggets should be puffy in appearance but still feel solid in texture.
- Once the yak chew nuggets have cooled, give them to your dog and let them enjoy!
Yak chew nuggets are an easy and great solution to yak chew waste, and prolong your dog's tasty treat for even longer!
